Ouarzazate Lake

The site is composed by six units in two artificial habitats: the reservoir of the El Mansour Ad-Dahbi Dam, located just below the confluence of two rivers, and six oasis with palm plantations irrigated along the course of the river Draa. Over 80 species of birds are wintering and nesting in the dam area. The site is an important refuge for migratory species, especially sparrows on the Trans-Saharan route using this website to rest before and after crossing the desert and for some rare common mammals in Morocco like Fennec, the African striped weasel North, African wild cat, and the common Genet Otter common. Reptile species are also found in the region.
